Sculpture

The Department of Sculpture addresses form, space, material, scale, the body, and public presence. Students engage clay, plaster, wood, metal, and fibre alongside installation, assemblage, and contemporary sculptural processes. The department is housed in a building whose own history as a workshop sustains the physical and material demands of the discipline as a constant presence in the academic environment.

Sculpture is understood here as a practice that thinks through matter rather than illustrating ideas by means of it. The department supports experiment with installation, public art, environmental engagement, and interdisciplinary method, while maintaining that material command and spatial intelligence remain the grounds of serious sculptural practice.
