Eligibility

Candidates must have passed +2 or equivalent Examinations.

Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on the 31st December 2025.

No relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed.
(There is no upper age limit)

50 Seats (49 + 1*)
1* One supernumerary seat (over and above the sanctioned intake) in each institution is reserved exclusively for the candidates from the Union Territory of Lakshadweep vide GO (Ms) no: 53/2019/HEDN,dated 7.03.2019
2* Two supernumerary seats are reserved for the Transgender students vide GO (Ms) no:542/2021/HEDN,dated 19.11.2021

Course Details
First Year – Foundation Programme
Common for all newly admitted students.
Subjects include basics of:
Drawing, Painting & Printmaking
Sculpting, Calligraphy
Theory subjects introduce:
History and importance of art
Principles and functions of art objects
Internal Assessments:
At the end of each term
Annual Exam:
Conducted by the University of Kerala
Internal: 40%
University Exam: 60%
Eligibility to appear:
Minimum 75% attendance
Minimum 35% in Practicals
Minimum 30% in Theory
Specialization from Second Year
After passing First Year, students choose one specialization: Painting / Sculpture / Applied Art
Allocation based on:
Aptitude, Marks scored in First Year
Specialization ratio:
Sculpture:Painting:Applied Art = 1:2:3
Second to Final Year
Subjects become specialization-specific
(both Theory & Practical)

Selections of Candidates
Selection will be made on the basis of an entrance examination (written/ practical). 1. The applicants seeking admission in BFA Art History and Visual Studies need to fill anadditional field in the BFA application form itself to opt for Art History Specialization. 2. The applicant who opt for BFA in Applied Art or Painting or Sculpture shall write Part I, Part II, and Part IV. 3. The applicants who opt for Art History and Visual Studies programme shall write Part-II test, besides the Part III Common General Knowledge test in Art and Culture. 4. The applicants who opt for Art History and Visual Studies programme along with other programmes in Applied Art/Painting and Sculpture shall write Part-I test, besides the Part II, Part III and Part IV. 5. A separate list for Art History and Visual Studies programme shall be based on Part II (Written test in Creative Writing: 80 Marks) and Part III (common test – General Knowledge in Art and Culture: 25 marks), Total: 105 Marks
2. MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in Painting

BFA in Painting from a recognized institution with regular study.
