The Department of Applied Art works at the intersection of visual communication, design, typography, illustration, photography, and digital practice. It holds a long institutional engagement with lettering and print culture, including the experimental tradition of Malayalam typography, and situates that inheritance within contemporary communication environments. The department prepares students for responsible and inventive professional practice across visual communication, with teaching extending into digital design, user experience, publication design, and socially engaged visual communication.
